Creating Aspen User Accounts

When you implement Aspen and when new staff members join your district or organization, you need to create Aspen user accounts.

Before you do so, you should have a basic understanding of how user security works in the system.

Note: Another reason you might need to create user accounts is for people who are not yet Aspen users, such as the parents of a new student. To do so, use the Create User Accounts and Send Emails option.

To create Aspen user accounts:

• Define the roles users play in your district. For example, you might define roles such as Nurse, Teacher, Student Attendance Manager, and Guidance Counselor. The roles you create determine the data users can access in your system, and the privileges users have in viewing and working with that data.
• Create user accounts. For each user, define details, roles, and the schools they can access.

Note: You can mass-create teacher user accounts for your teachers who share the same roles.
